FAQS

  • Tourists from the EU and Switzerland generally require a valid passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the planned departure date. A visa is not required as long as the stay does not exceed 90 days.

  • It is recommended to check and possibly refresh the standard vaccinations such as diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTaP). Additionally, all travelers are advised to get vaccinated against hepatitis A as there is a risk of infection. It is important to note that these are general recommendations and individual factors such as your health condition should be taken into account. Therefore, we recommend that you consult your family doctor or a travel physician to receive personal advice and recommendations tailored to your specific needs.

  • Yes, of course! Like other tour operators, we expect to meet you at the exit/arrival (in the arrival hall) and we are easily recognizable. Please do not leave the arrival hall until we have found each other. We track your flight online and are informed of any changes in the arrival time. If you arrive earlier than planned and we have not yet found each other, please make sure to wait in the arrival hall.

  • It is recommended to check with your health and accident insurance whether the services also apply to this country. Additionally, there are various insurance packages that can optimally secure your trip. These include, for example, trip cancellation, repatriation by medical transport, legal protection, and much more. Make sure that the services are valid worldwide. Rescue and recovery costs as well as medical transports can become very expensive in a large country. Note the emergency numbers of the insurances that need to be contacted in case of an emergency. It is also always advisable to store important documents online.

  • We stay in carefully selected 2- or 3-star hotels. It is important to us that the rooms are clean and have a shower, a toilet, and a good breakfast. The safety of the accommodations is also a concern for us. Some hotels also offer pools and beautiful garden facilities. We have known the hotel staff for many years and place value on a friendly and respectful interaction. Single rooms and double rooms (with 2 beds or one bed) can be booked, with double rooms only suitable for people who already know each other.

  • Yes, for a trip there, you need both the national driver's license from your country of origin and the international driver's license. Be sure to check the validity of the driver's licenses before departure.

  • The condition of the roads varies greatly, but in general, our participants are positively surprised by the road conditions. A toll fee is charged on important connecting roads, but motorcycle riders are exempt from this. In our travel programs, we also indicate how high the proportion of off-road tracks is.

  • The risks vary depending on the stage. Our experienced tour guides conduct detailed briefings daily to minimize the risk of accidents. Traffic can be chaotic, especially in larger cities like Lima. Often there is a high number of vehicles, and many drivers may not adhere to traffic rules. In rural areas, animals roam freely on the roads - dogs, cows, horses, donkeys, pigs, sheep, llamas, and alpacas as well as wild animals. Different weather conditions must also be taken into account. We recommend a defensive driving style without obstructing traffic. It is important to always wear the recommended protective gear and to follow the instructions of the tour guide attentively. In Peru, there is a zero-permil limit for alcohol at the wheel. Our MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURES are intended for experienced motorcyclists and not suitable for beginners.

  • Medical care varies by region and city. In larger cities like Lima, Arequipa, and Cusco, there are well-equipped hospitals and clinics with qualified medical personnel. However, medical care is limited in rural areas and remote regions. In most cases, patients may need to be transported to larger cities to receive adequate medical care. We are well-equipped to handle medical events as best as possible. Participants should definitely have competent travel insurance. Accident and health insurances that are sufficient at home are not suitable for long-distance travel. The help we expect from an insurance company involves not only an insurance package but also an emergency number with competent partners on the other end of the line.

  • There is no specific best travel time since the country has different climate zones. On the coast, high fog prevails from December to March, while in the highlands of the Andes, the best time to travel is from April to October, as there is little rainfall. Daytime temperatures are between 20-24 degrees, and at night it cools down to 0-8 degrees. On the coast, it is very warm from December to March with temperatures of 30-35 degrees, which is a good time for swimming in the Pacific. From April to November, temperatures range from 15-22 degrees, which also offers a pleasant climate for motorcycling. In the jungle, tropical temperatures between 25-30 degrees prevail year-round with high humidity. The country is located in the tropical zone near the equator, so the seasons are marked less by temperature fluctuations than by the amount of precipitation. Our tour calendar is adjusted according to the climate and weather.

  • The altitude in the Andean highlands can have various effects on the body. Here are some possible symptoms: headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and shortness of breath due to lower oxygen supply at higher altitudes. It is recommended to acclimatize slowly to the altitude and drink plenty of fluids. Many people also have difficulty sleeping well at high altitudes, which can lead to fatigue and exhaustion during the trip. Our travel programs are designed to allow for a slow adjustment to the altitude. Crossing high passes is generally unproblematic, but overnight stays at altitudes above 3,500 meters can be more challenging. We recommend taking a medical natural product called "Sorojchi" pills, which are available at any pharmacy. Drinking coca tea can also help thin the blood and combat nausea. Individuals with respiratory illnesses such as asthma or chronic bronchitis should consider this when traveling to the Andean highlands. We are equipped with a pulse oximeter and a blood pressure monitor and check the health status of our participants.
